Sunday April 11th, 2021 is the last day of National Public Health Week. The day's theme is "Elevating the Essential and Health Workforce." Join us for a presentation given by LaShyra 'Lash' Nolen, Harvard Medical School's Class of 2023 Class President, for her talk on: "The Case for Anti-Racism Training in Medical Education." 

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A and a community conversation centered on pages 120 & 186 of Dr. Kendi's journal, Be Antiracist: A Journal for Awareness, Reflection and Action: "Being diagnosed with racism is not unlike being diagnosed with cancer. Both can be shocking and devastating. But people tend to respond to each of these very differently. How? Why?" & "List three new ways you can begin using your power in the racial struggle."

Lashyra "Lash" Nolen is a Los Angeles native deeply passionate about the concerns of underserved and marginalized communities. She graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2017 and is the first in her family to study medicine. She is a Fulbright, Gilman, and Foster Policy Scholar, and second-year medical student at Harvard Medical School where she is serving as student council president of her class, the first documented black woman to hold this leadership position. As a rising leader in medicine, she has been named a 2020 National Minority Quality Forum “40 under 40 Leader in Minority Health”, a “2020 Young Futurist” by The Root Magazine, and the 2021 recipient of the American Medical Student Association’s “Racial Justice in Medicine” Award. In her spare time, she enjoys co-hosting the Clinical Problem Solvers Anti-Racism in Medicine podcast, writing about social justice and health equity, rapping and making music, and spending time with her loved ones.  We Got Us is her proudest endeavor and she can’t wait to work with this amazing team of Black student activists and allies to uplift our community.
