Recent Achievements
Eleven Scholl College students presented their research at the Rosalind Franklin University Summer Poster Session, held October 4, 2022.
Names of the student winners and their presentation titles and mentors are listed below.
Abigael Adediran, Rachel Albright, DPM, (mentor Adam Fleischer, DPM, MPH, FACFAS) were awarded 1st Place poster session, “Underutilization of Preventative Outpatient Services Among People Diagnosed with Diabetes at Stamford Health”. Summer Research Poster Session, Rosalind Franklin University. '
Andrew Costa, (mentor Noah Rosenblatt, PhD), Marco Avalos, PhD, MD, and Saaniya Farhan, were awarded 2nd Place, poster session, “Quantifying the Effects of Victimization on Gait: Exploratory study”. Summer Research Poster Session, Rosalind Franklin University.
Emani Matthews and Rambod Aznavaleh, (mentor Leland Jaffe, DPM, FACFAS, CWSP), were awarded 3rd Place, poster session, “The Use of Cryogenic Umbilical Cord Allografts on Diabetic Foot Ulcerations with Underlying Osteomyelitis”. Summer Research Poster Session, Rosalind Franklin University.
All School Research Consortium (ASRC), held March 15th 2023.
Emily Cao was awarded Best Scientific Talk Award, “Utilizing a Plaque Assay and q-PCR Protocol to Correlate Coronavirus MHV-1 Concentration with Infectious Units”, 18th Annual All School Research Consortium, Rosalind Franklin University.
Abigael Adediran was awarded Best Scientific Poster Award, “Do Current Prevention Guidelines Prevent Hospitalization in People with Diabetes? An Analysis of a Large US Heath System in the Upper Northeast”, 18th Annual All School Research Consortium, Rosalind Franklin University.
Fifteen Scholl College students presented their research at the Rosalind Franklin University Summer Poster Session, held on October 26, 2021.
Names of the student winners with their presentation titles and mentors are listed below. The winners represented Scholl College at the Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum in Omaha, NE, on March 5, 2022. Motasem Salamah was awarded second place in the category of medical/professional student oral presentation.
Hala Alsheikh and Carol Kurthl were awarded best research talk for Scholl College at the All School Research Consortium in March 2022 for their talk: “Foot and Ankle Fractures: The Need for Specialists in Free Clinics”.
Katia Leon, Carol Kurth, Sarah Langer, Joshua Harbert, Katherine Leininger, Maream Maream Nori, Motasem Salamah, Gregory Derk and Roxana Cociu (mentor Dr. Robert Joseph) were awarded best poster for Scholl College at the All School Research Consortium in March 2022 for, “Heel Wounds: Using a Lateral Extensile Incision of the Calcaneus to Expand Coverage and Utility of Fasciocutaneous Rotation Flaps of the Posterior Leg”.
Sarah Langer, Carly Goerhing, Taha Mahmood, Erin Finn, Zayna Shaqildi, Gil Paiz, Sean Busby were awarded 3rd place in the student club poster competition at the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) Annual Scientific Conference in February 2022 for, “Return to Activity After Excision of the Symptomatic Os Trigonum: A Systematic Review Comparing Arthroscopic Versus Open Excision."
Sarah Langer (mentor Dr. Adam Fleischer) was part of a team that was awarded 2nd place in the manuscript session (out of 58 nationally submitted manuscripts) at the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) Annual Scientific Conference in February 2022 for, “Patient Reported Outcome of Dorsal Approach Plantar Plate Repair - A Ten Year Follow Up.”

Third Place (tie) - Mili Langi - "The Effects of Various Felt Padding Thicknesses on Gait" (Mentor - Dr. Sydney Yau) and Claudia Moreno Romero - "Intact Foot Characteristics in Individuals Who Use a Lower Limb Prosthesis: A Pilot Study" (Mentor - Dr. Noah Rosenblatt)
