Basic Sciences Masters Programs
Does your program require the Graduate Record Exam (GRE)?
No, the GRE is not required for entry into the Doctoral Program.
What disciplines (majors) are available for Masters study?
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Anatomy, Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology, Microbiology and Immunology, Neuroscience, or Physiology and Biophysics.
What is the timeline for the admissions process?
Applications will be available on September 1 each year. The Fall application deadline is typically the first Friday in January (11:59 PM, Central Standard Time). Files are reviewed on a rolling basis. Interviews are held on campus in February. Accepted students report to campus in early August.
When do I select my lab and degree discipline?
During the application and interview process, applicants must identify a minimum of three potential mentors in whose lab and under whose guidance to pursue their Masters studies. The mentor must be approved by the SGPS Dean's Office and agree to training the student.
- Applicants are encouraged to explore the potential laboratories in advance of submitting their application via our Faculty Researcher Guide.
- Potential mentors will review applications and interview candidates prior to admission offers.
Do the SGPS Master's programs offer any type of financial assistance?
Students enrolled in SGPS Masters Degree Programs are not eligible for living stipends. Need- and merit-based tuition assistance is considered on a case-by-case basis.
Financial Aid counseling is available through the Financial Aid Office.
