Terrence Li, MD

Dr. Terrence Li received his MD from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, in 2006. He completed his preliminary medicine internship at United Health Services in Johnson City, NY in 2007, adult neurology residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in 2010 and clinical neurophysiology at University of Illinois at Chicago in 2011. Dr. Li is board certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology. 

Dr. Li is the discipline chair in neurology and continues to play an ancillary role in the neurobehavioral (NBH) course. He is currently practicing at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Brighton, MA and Good Samaritan Hospital, Brockton, MA. He began at Chicago Medical School as an assistant professor in June 2014 and was promoted to associate professor in March 2021. He was formerly the neurology education director at Chicago Medical School from 2016 until March 2023 and was the former director of the transition to internship elective for 4 years from 2017 until 2021. 

Dr. Li became a junior member of the American Academy of Neurology in 2007 and was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology in 2022. He has emphasized medical student education since he graduated from medical school, and he received the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award twice as a medical resident in 2007 and 2008 and the medical student teaching awards from the neurology department all three years he was a neurology resident.

At Chicago Medical School, he was the recipient of the CMS Dean’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Education in 2020, M4 Outstanding Preceptor Award in 2021, CMS Champion Award in 2022. He was inducted as a faculty member into Alpha Omega Alpha in 2021.

His interests include general neurology, medical student education, and curriculum design and implementation. His primary passions are spending time with his wife and family and playing basketball.
