Lucy Hammerberg, MD '82, FACEP, CPE
Dr. Hammerberg has over 40 years of clinical experience, first as a Registered Nurse and then as an Emergency Physician. She completed her undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from the University of Illinois and completed medical school at Chicago Medical School. She completed her residency training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. She has been a partner in an Emergency Physician group and has held administrative roles as Chief Quality Officer and Emergency Department Medical Director. She has been involved with graduate medical education for over 20 years: she has served as the Director of Continuing Medical Education and the coordinator for resident education for Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residents during their training while in the Emergency Department at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, IL. She is a Certified Physician Executive and also holds certification in Patient Safety Leadership and Lean Six Sigma. She is a master TeamSTEPPS trainer and has training in Medical Improvisational Theater. She also consults as a Physician Coach for Huron/Studer group where she helps coach physician leaders and works with individual practitioners to improve the patient experience.
