Dr. Charles Nozicka is dual board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He is the Division Director for pediatric emergency medicine at Advocate Children's Hospital.

Dr. Nozicka graduated from Loyola University (1978, BS Physics and Psychology) and the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (1982, DO). He began an emergency medicine career in 1983 as an emergency physician in the United States Navy, and he served as the Emergency Department director at the Naval Hospital Great Lakes in 1985. After military discharge, he completed a pediatric residency at Lutheran General Children’s Medical Center.

Dr. Nozicka has extensive experience as a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Medical Director. He helped develop pediatric emergency departments at Edward Hospital, St. Alexius Medical Center, Alexian Brothers Medical Center, and Advocate Condell Medical Center. He has executive medical management experience as former Executive Director for the Alexian Pediatric Center of Excellence.

He has authored book chapters and numerous academic papers. His clinical interests include adolescent risk taking behavior, pediatric bio-terrorism preparation, patient safety, and pediatric media literacy. In 2013, he was appointed to the editorial board of Pediatric Emergency Medicine Reports. Dr. Nozicka has participated in numerous national media interviews regarding pediatric advocacy issues, including appearances on The Today Show, The Early Show, and Anderson Cooper 360.

Dr. Nozicka is the father of four adult children. He and his wife, Nancy (an ER advance practice nurse) have been married 31 years and are new grandparents. His non-academic interests include biking, fishing, golf and high powered rocketry.
