Amin Ur Rehman Nadeem, MD, FCCP

Dr. Nadeem received his medical degree from Dow Medical University in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1992. After graduating, he completed his training in medicine and surgery at Civil Hospital, a 1600-bed teaching hospital affiliated with Dow Medical University.

In pursuit of higher education and state-of-the-art training, he arrived in the United States in 1993. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (1994-1997). He then joined a traditional internal medicine practice in Carbondale, IL, from 1997 to 2002.

During his practice years, Dr. Nadeem developed extreme interest in inpatient medicine and academia. This interest led him to pursue fellowship training in critical care medicine from Chicago Medical School (2002-2004).

Dr. Nadeem has been working as a full-time critical care physician at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) since December 2006. He has been an assistant professor affiliated with Chicago Medical School’s internal medicine residency training program since 2007. 

Dr. Nadeem’s research interests include airway management in ICU, factors impacting ICU mortality, and management of respiratory failure. He has published on topics of the effects of lunar cycle on ICU mortality, differences in practice patterns of physicians from different specialties in airway management, and increased risk of stroke in COPD patients with atrial fibrillation as compared to atrial fibrillation alone.

He has been recognized as teacher of the year by the internal medicine residency program for three years in a row (2013-2016).
