Rotation structure

  • First year fellow: MICU for 3 months. In this busy MICU setting fellows will learn how to manage critically ill patients including those with severe respiratory conditions requiring mechanical ventilatory support.
  • Second year fellow: Pulmonary inpatient consult service for 3 months. Fellows will learn how to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients who are admitted to the hospital with substantial pulmonary conditions.
  • For both inpatient rotations, fellow functions as a junior attending, leading a team of residents and medical students which develops important leadership skills.
  • Outpatient pulmonary clinic: for ½ day per week, second year fellow will rotate through the outpatient clinic, learning about a variety of lung diseases that manifest in a busy urban environment.
