In her role as Vice President for Faculty and Academic Affairs, Moreen Carvan works collaboratively to assure academic excellence and student academic success. Under her leadership, the Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs promotes academic innovation and excellence; advances the culture of interprofessionalism; sustains excellent and accessible pathways for all students; and supports faculty in all aspects of their work, creating an effective academic learning environment through shared governance.
Dr. Carvan's career in higher education spans more than 30 years. She has served as an administration and graduate faculty at Marian University in Wisconsin; as graduate faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and in leadership roles in two state departments of education. She has published in peer reviewed journals of curricular design, assessment, and teacher education. Her research focus is on equity in the design of curriculum and assessment in science education in higher education. She received her BS in Secondary Science Education from the University of Texas at El Paso, her MS in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University in College Station, and her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. She currently serves as a peer reviewer and team chair for HLC’s Peer Review Corps and is on the Board of Directors for the Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education (AALHE).
