We frequently get a question from prospective applicants: What makes RFU different? Although there’s no single way to answer that, here are a few of our biggest differentiators.

Interprofessionalism

Our interprofessional approach is the foundation of our students’ learning experiences. At RFU, you can learn alongside peers in more than 30 other health-profession and science programs, and also collaborate with them on teams through our service learning programs and student-run Interprofessional Community Clinic.

Hands-on Learning

RFU offers a wide range of community-based clinical opportunities. Thanks in part to our campus’s proximity to Chicago, our students have opportunities to work across broad demographics of patients in different settings, including hospitals that care for the underserved, the federal health system that provides medical care to veterans and U.S. military personnel, and private clinics and practices.

Close-knit Community

The strong sense of community at RFU is rooted in several factors: Our entire student population is graduate-level and shares a focus on health sciences. Our smaller size means faculty and students know one another by name and cross paths often. Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion generates a climate of openness and acceptance. And our engaging campus life provides meaningful and fun opportunities to connect.
