ASSURANCE
The Assurance of Compliance is documentation that demonstrates institutional compliance with Public Health Service (PHS) policy. It demonstrates that we have in place an appropriate and acceptable Institutional Program for Animal Care and Use, as well as an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) to monitor the Program. The Assurance must be renewed with the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) every 5 years; annual reports are also required. The University’s most recent Assurance of Compliance renewal was approved by OLAW on July 16, 2008.
The Assurance number that should be used for grant applications to federal agencies like the National Institutes of Health is:
A3279-01
ACCREDITATION
The Program for Animal Care and Use at Rosalind Franklin University is fully accredited by the
Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Lab Animal Care International (AAALAC
). AAALAC accreditation is the “gold standard” for animal programs; this accreditation must be renewed every 3 years and annual reports are required. We have been continuously accredited by AAALAC since 1985; our most recent accreditation was in 2008.
