Office of Educational Affairs

The mission of the Office of Educational Affairs (OEA) is to provide direction and support for students pursuing careers in the healthcare professions at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

Biomedical Sciences Program

The Office of Educational Affairs directs the Biomedical Sciences Program sponsored by the Department of Interprofessional Healthcare Studies in the College of Health Professions.  This program offers a one-year, non-thesis sequence of study leading successful students to a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences.  Gordon L. Pullen, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics is the Biomedical Sciences Program Director.  Tamera Kavouras is the Administrative Assistant for the Biomedical Sciences Program.

Academic Programs Support

Under the direction of Gordon L. Pullen, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Educational Affairs, the Office of Educational Affairs provides academic support through review programs as well as personal academic assistance to students. The office provides support and training for student-run group review sessions and for one-on-one tutoring services. Karen DiMario, MS, assists in this effort by providing additional organization and direction of these academic services. Tamera Kavouras, Administrative Assistant, helps track our efforts to assist students and ensures efficiency in the office.

Pre-Matriculation Program

The Office of Educational Affairs offers a Pre-Matriculation Program in collaboration with the Chicago Area Health and Medical Careers Program (CAHMCP, pronounced "CHAMP"). Dr. John Bradley, the Program Director of CAHMCP, has offices downtown Chicago.  The CAHMCP/CMS collaboration has resulted in extensive and highly successful recruitment and retention of students who are underrepresented in the health professions. Students who enroll in the Pre-Matriculation program are given the opportunity to demonstrate their academic abilities by taking two medical school classes concurrently. Our office provides academic support in terms of assistance with both study skills and test-taking preparation for the students enrolled in the program. Tamera Kavouras is the Administrative Assistant for the Pre-Matriculation Program.
