Learning Resources consists of the Boxer University Library, and Educational Technology. Housed in the Learning Resource Center, we provide a wide range of services to the students, faculty and staff of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS).
In addition to the staff in each area, teaching and learning are also supported through availability of the academic computing labs, small group study rooms, the Presentation Practice Room located on the lower level of the LRC, and the Learning Commons, just inside our main entrance.
Boxer University Library:
The Boxer University Library print and electronic collections provide online and on-campus access to many of the world's leading biomedical, academic, and consumer journals as well as major medical information databases. Our staff can assist you in learning to access our library resources and obtaining articles and other information sources that are not available at the Boxer University Library using interlibrary loan. Library services include reference assistance, interlibrary loan, and instruction in information and health literacy, both in-class and online. In addition, an online course to orient you to library resources is available in Desire2Learn. A physical tour of the library is available upon request. Professional library staff are available 70 hours per week: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 10 PM. Student library aides provide assistance on weekends from 10 AM to 8 PM. (12 PM to 6 PM: summer hours). When the University is closed on major holidays, Circulation services are unavailable, so please plan accordingly.
Educational Technology
Educational Technology (ET) provides training and support for faculty, staff, and students in the use of software technologies focused on the educational goals of the university. The current primary technologies include; Desire2Learn for presenting course material online, the Turning Point Audience Response System to collect data through class participation, and iTunes University where multimedia content is downloadable for student viewing. Orientation and training classes are presented to support the use of these primary technologies as well as ancillary software applications used to create course content. The growing list of secondary applications include; Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Contribute, Inbit Fullshot, and TechSmith Camtasia. To help faculty take full advantage of the use of all the technologies supported, ET develops and presents classes on best-practices in the application of digital content for instructional purposes.
