Learning Resources is comprised of three units; the Boxer University Library, Educational Technology and Academic Computer Services, located in a 52,000 square foot facility. The primary responsibilities of the LRC units are to provide an intellectual and physical atmosphere conducive to research and study and to provide the services aiding in those pursuits.

Boxer University Library:

The Boxer University Library is a Resource Library in the National Library of Medicine's Regional Network. The collection contains 119,000 volumes and subscriptions to approximately 2,000 biomedical journals in both electronic and print formats. There is a 24-hour computer lab, carrels with network connectivity, leisure reading areas, and group study rooms. The Library is open 90 hours and seven days a week.

Services Fees/Policy
Interlibrary Loans Fees vary and are determined by lending library. Typical fees are between $0 and $11. Rush orders may accrue extra charges.
Print2PDF $3 per article for first 10 pages, $0.10 per page after 10.

 

Educational Technology:

Educational Technology provides training and support for faculty, staff, and students in the use of software technologies focused on the educational goals of the university. The current primary technologies include; Desire2Learn for presenting course material online, the Audience Response System to collect data through class participation, and iTunes University where multimedia content is downloadable for student viewing. Orientation and training classes are presented to support the use of these primary technologies as well as ancillary software applications used to create course content. The growing list of secondary applications include; Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Contribute, Inbit Fullshot, and TechSmith Camtasia. To help faculty take full advantage of the use of all the technologies supported, Educational Technology develops and presents classes on best-practices in the application of digital content for instructional purposes.

Academic Computer Services:

Academic computing services is located on the LRC lower level. This area includes two academic computer labs with 175 computers for teaching, study and Internet accessibility. The Library staff conducts scheduled classes and workshops in computer instruction and software programs.
