In 2005, The College of Health Professions at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science added the Interprofessional Healthcare Studies department. Initially the department consisted of online Master of Science and Certificate programs in Healthcare Administration and Management and Certificate in Women’s Health Care Studies.
Over the years the department has grown to include the Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences – our only completely on campus program – the Master of science and Certificate in Health Professions Education and the PhD/ DSc in Interprofessional studies. Both of these programs are predominately online.
In addition to organizing, managing and teaching in these programs, the department is responsible for the Interprofessional Teams and Culture in Health Care course that incoming students from all on campus clinical programs take in the first Fall and Winter quarters of their program. We are currently making plans to expand the interprofessional experience to include activities and courses in the Spring of the first year and in the subsequent years of the programs.
