College of Pharmacy History

The fifth and newest College at the University, the College of Pharmacy, was founded in 2009 and opened its doors to its inaugural class in August of 2011.  In the two years prior to welcoming the Class of 2015, College efforts focused largely on expert faculty recruitment, innovative curriculum development, and diverse experiential site partnering. The College makes its home on the entire third floor of the Interprofessional Education Center, which opened in the summer of 2011 and boasts a state of the art pharmacy skills lab and patient counseling rooms.

Since the College’s inception, members of Dean Gloria Meredith’s Advisory Board, comprised of leaders in community and hospital pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical industry and academia, have supported the College in its community outreach and fundraising efforts. The College’s first annual scholarship fundraiser in spring 2012 will raise funds to support current and incoming students, and celebrate the success of Pharmacy’s first academic year.
